Ranger Exes Memorial - RHS Class of 1940

Bobbie Coffman McBay BOBBIE LEE COFFMAN MCBAY, 94, of Fort Worth, TX, loving mother, grandmother & great-grandmother, departed this life on April 10, 2018 to her eternal heavenly home, with burial in the Bullock Cemetery near Ranger, TX. Bobbie was born June 29, 1923 in Ranger, TX to Robert Lee & Esther Bailey Coffman. After graduation from Ranger High School in 1940, she married Thomas Carl McBay, and started 75 years of loving marriage. Bobbie and Carl were longtime members of Ridglea West Baptist Church before moving to Western Hills Baptist Church. She was a charter member of Ridglea West Garden Club and was an accomplished Iris grower. Her passion was collecting and showing antique buttons, winning many awards at the local, state and national level. She was an active volunteer at church, concentrating on the library and writing church histories. She also researched her families genealogy before the Internet made it easy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; daughters, Carolyn Smith and Mary Penner; sister, Arlona Fisher; and brother, Alton Coffman. Survivors include grandson, Kerry A. Smith; granddaughter, Kristina Lee Swan and husband Peter Swan; great grandson, Parker Lee Swan; nieces, Sheri Capehart and Katie Fisher; son-in-law, Alvin Smith and wife Marlene; and great niece and great nephews. Thomas McBay Mary McBay Penner HUSBAND: THOMAS CARL MCBAY, 95, a loving husband,father, grandfather, & great-grandfather departed this life Dec. 16, 2015 to his eternal heavenly home. Burial was in Bullock Cemetery at Ranger. Carl was born March 17, 1920, in Lincoln, TN, to Walter & Ella Mae McBay. After completing his education, he met and married Bobbie Lee Coffman (RHS-1940) in May of 1940. Carl served his country in the U.S. Army 8th Cavalry during World War II in the Pacific and occupation of Japan. After 30 years in the regular Army and Navy Reserves as chief petty officer. He entered into a career in the aircraft industry in 1941 in Dallas. He was employed by General Dynamics in Fort Worth for 38 1/2 years. He was a resident of Fort Worth since 1947. Carl was a faithful member of Ridglea West Baptist Church for 51 years. He was a member of Western Hills Baptist Church in his last years. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Carolyn Smith and Mary Penner. Survivors: Beloved wife of 75 years, Bobbie Lee; grandson, Kerry Smith; granddaughter Kristina and husband Peter Swan; great-grandson, Parker Swan; niece, Sheri Capehart and husband, Bruce; & son- in-law, Alvin Smith. DAUGHTER: MARY LINDA MCBAY PENNER, artist, beloved daughter, aunt and friend, departed this life for her eternal heavenly home on Jan. 27, 2009, in Fort Worth, TX, with burial at Bullock Cemetery near Ranger, TX. Mary was born Feb. 27, 1949, in Fort Worth to Thomas Carl and Bobbie Lee Coffman (RHS-1940) McBay. She accepted the Lord and Savior at the age of 9 at Ridglea West Baptist Church, where she was a member. Mary was a 1967 graduate of Arlington Heights High School and attended Tarrant County College. Mary had a passion for animals and her acclaimed art is a lasting testament of her love. Mary was a crusader for the wildlife of the rain forest of South and Central America and many of her paintings were of the unique species of plants and animals she studied. Mary's art has been exhibited in numerous museums throughout the U.S., including the Smithsonian, National Museum in New York and Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum. Many of Mary's paintings are in private collections throughout the U.S. Mary was preceded in death by her sister, Carolyn Lee Smith. Survivors: parents, Thomas Carl and Bobbie Lee McBay of Fort Worth; nephew, Kerry Smith of Fort Worth; niece, Kristina Smith of Austin; and numerous cousins.
