
FLORENCE MARIE LAWSON COGBURN, 88, of Eastland,
TX, passed away Jan. 17, 2012 in Eastland, with
burial was in Eastland City Cemetery.
Mrs. Cogburn was born Feb. 12, 1923 in Thurber, TX
to Bill & Treta (Hilburn) Lawson. She graduated
from Ranger High School in 1942 at Ranger, TX. She
married Jack Cogburn in 1945 at Ranger. She had
been a resident of Eastland since 1950 and was a
member of the Daugherty St. Church of Christ. She
was a homemaker and seamstress, having made many
wedding dresses over the years.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jana
Cogburn; and 3 brothers, Billy Carl Lawson (RHS-1958),
Joe Charles Lawson (RHS-1955) and Robert Lawson (RHS-
1944).
Survivors at the time of her death include her husband,
Jack Cogburn of Eastland; a son, Kenny Cogburn and wife
Wadena of Denton; grandchildren, Jason Cogburn & wife
Laurie of Eastland, and Crystie Kubena of Frisco; great-
grandchildren, Alicea Alice Kubena, Justin Cogburn,
Jayton Cogburn, and Hawk Kubena; and nephew, Robert
Charles Lawson of Eastland.
HUSBAND: JACK L. COGBURN, 92, went home to the arms
of his Lord and Savior Feb. 8, 2019. As per Jack’s
request, he will be cremated and laid to rest beside
his wife with a simple graveside service Saturday,
Feb. 16, 2019 at 2 PM at the Eastland City Cemetery.
Jack was born April 2, 1926 in Weatherford, TX to
Cecil & Inez Gilbert Cogburn. In 1944, at the age
of 18, he joined the U.S. Navy and served during
WWII. In Sept. of 1945, he married Miss Florence
Marie Lawson (RHS-1942) in Ranger, TX and became a
longtime resident of Eastland in 1950. Jack worked
for Victor Cornelius at VC Menus for 36 years as a
Linotype Operator and was a member of the Daugherty
St. Church of Christ since 1961. For fun, Jack love
going to gun shows & pawn shops looking for interest-
ing things he could buy at one shop and maybe sell
at the next. He was also a jeweler of sorts; he
enjoyed taking old jewelry and remaking it into
something new and unique.
Jack was preceded in death by his loving wife Florence
in 2012 and a precious granddaughter, Jana Cogburn in
1984.
He is survived by his son, Kenny Cogburn & wife Wadena
of Comanche; grandson, Jason Cogburn of Eastland; great-
grandsons, Justin Cogburn of Midland and Jayton Cogburn
of Eastland and their mother, Laurie Cogburn also of
Eastland. He is also survived by granddaughter, Chrystie
Parkman & husband Brent of McKinney; great-granddaughters,
Alicea Kubena of Baton Rouge and Lillyana Parkman of
McKinney; & great-grandson, Hawk Kubena also of McKinney;
and many friends.
