ALLEN D. RUSHING, 52, was the son of Della Folmar &
Lemuel Thomas Rushing who owned the Ranger Laundry
back in the 40's-50's. He had a younger brother,
Jerry Rushing (RHS-1953) who lives in Athens, TX.
Allen was born on Sept. 25, 1929, and died Aug. 9,
1982, while living at Temple, TX, with buried there
in Hillcrest Cemetery.
He graduated Ranger High School with the Class of 1947
and married Barbara Cooper (RHS-1955) in Sept. of
1955. Allen worked for Lone Star Gas and they lived
in Ranger, TX.
Allen was in the National Guard Reserves and was called
in to active duty in the fall of 1961. He was stationed
at Fort Polk where he was joined by his family, living
in DeRidder, Louisiana, eleven months before returning
to Ranger after the crisis was over. Allen was then
employed by the Texas Highway Department and attended
RJC and also Texas A&M, majoring in Civil Engineering.
He later graduated from Mary Hardin-Baylor.
Allen & Barbara had three daughters, Tamara Ann, Rhonda
Lee and Julie Kay, all born in Ranger.
The family moved from Eastland to Temple in 1972 when
Allen was transferred there by the highway department.
They were members of the 7th Street Methodist Church
where Allen was a steward.
Tamara Ann "Tammy" Rushing graduated from Texas A&M in
1982 and married Alan Quintero in Dec. of 1986, and
has four sons, Devin, Stephen, Alec and Iam Thomas
Quintero. She was divorced in 2001 and teaches
elementary school at Cypress Fairbanks, Cypress, TX.
Rhonda Lee Rushing married Patrick Kelly in 1982 and
they have two children, Patricia Nicole & Logan Thomas
and live in Little River, TX, where she is office
manager for Dental Center, Belton, TX.
Julia Kay Rushing graduated from Mary Hardin-Baylor
and was married to Joel Todd Page. They have a son,
Owen Henry Page, and live in Victoria, TX, where she
is an elementary school teacher.
Barbara Cooper Rushing is re-married to Don E. Whatley
and they live in Temple & own/manage Whatley Realtors.
