Ranger Exes Memorial - RHS Class of 1948

Katy Jacoby Boston KATY LOU JACOBY BOSTON, 72, of Hobbs, NM, died Jan. 22, 2004, at a local hospital after a long illness. She was born June 17, 1931, in Ranger, TX, and attended Ranger High School in the Class of 1948. She survived by her husband, Sam Boston, of Hobbs, NM; one son, Billy Frost of Hobbs; one daughter, June Guess of Ranger, two grand-daughters, Jenny Mabery of Tolar, TX, and Talina Baker of Lubbock; two grandsons, Matthew Frost of Dallas & Russell Frost of Hobbs; three great-grandchildren, Taylor & Reagan Mabery of Tolar and Avery Baker of Lubbock; three sisters, Margaret Jacoby Campbell (RHS-1944) of Odessa, Betty Jacoby Cannon of Noble, OK, and Dorothy Jacoby Wright (RHS-1959) of Alvarado; two brothers, Harold Jacoby (RHS-1947) of Albuquerque, NM, & Dillard Jacoby (RHS-1963) of Ranger. Katy was preceded in death by her parents, Nannie Hubbard and Walter Jacoby; five brothers, Raymond Jacoby, LeRoy Jacoby (RHS-1941), Walter Lee Jacoby, Bobby Jean Jacoby, and Otis Ray Jacoby (RHS-1956); and one son, Russell Lynn Frost. HUSBAND: SAMUEL "SAM" BOSTON passed on to be with Jesus Dec. 1, 2014 in Ranger, TX at the age of 89, with burial at Oplin Cemetery in Oplin, TX Sam was born in Wilks County, NC on April 21, 1925 to Lee and Elizabeth (Leatherwood) Boston. He had three brothers: Bob, Frank, and Andy who preceded him in death. In 1973, Sam married Katy Jacoby (RHS-1948) who also preceded him in death in 2004. Sam grew up in Oplin and Baird, TX. As a teenager, Sam worked at a small gas station in Oplin before serving in the U.S. Army during World War II. After the war, he spent over 60 years in the oilfields of west Texas and New Mexico. He made his home in Hobbs, NM for nearly 50 years before retiring in Ranger. Sam had a heart of gold that enjoyed his friends and family. He was always ready to go to any event & had a spunky attitude that caused lots of laughter. Sam was a loving stepdad and granddad to daughter, June Guess and husband Ronny (RHS-1967) of Ranger, TX; son – Billy Frost and Debbie of Bellville, TX; granddaughter – Jenny Mabery and family of Tolar, TX, granddaughter – Talina Baker and family of Azle, TX, grandson – Matthew Frost and family of Hurst, TX, and grandson – Russell Frost of Hobbs, NM.
