OTIS RAY JACOBY, 37, a lifelong resident of Ranger,
TX was pronounced dead at the scene of an accident
in Ranger in Nov. of 1974, while employed by Well
Fluids Corp., a drilling mud storage company. He
was apparently helping to push-start a stalled fork
lift when it turned over on him. Interment was at
Evergreen Cemetery in Ranger.
Otis was born Oct. 1, 1937, in Ranger and attended
Ranger High School in the Class of 1956. He married
Norma Jean Mapier in Oct. of 1957. His parents were
Margarite Hubbard & Walter Jacoby. His sister was
Katy Jacoby Boston (RHS-1948). He was a truck driver
for Well Fluids Corp. He had one son & two daughters.
Two of his brothers were Harold Jacoby (RHS-1947) and
Dillard Jacoby (RHS-1963).
WIFE; NORMA JEAN NAPIER JACOBY, 80, of Ranger, TX
passed away on Jan. 18, 2021 in Grandview, TX, with
burial in Evergreen Cemetery at Ranger.
She was born in Tehachapi, CA on Feb 4, 1940 to Redus
Lois Napier & Ruth Hall Napier. She married Otis Ray
Jacoby in Oct. of 1957 in Ranger, TX where they lived
and raised their family. Norma was a homemaker, babysat
for several families, & worked at Odgen’s Laundry mat
in Ranger before it closed. She mostly enjoyed attending
church services where she was a member of Second Baptist
Church.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband,
Otis, in 1974 and by her sister, Verna Faye Napier Gailey,
in 1999.
Survivors include her daughters, Katherine Ann Jacoby
(RHS-1976, Dan Madding) of Alvarado TX, Lois Faye Jacoby
(RHS-1980, Daniel Maher) of Springdale, AR, and a son,
Bobby Ray Jacoby (RHS-1982), Vicki Jacoby) of Eastland,
TX. Norma is also survived by a sister, Betty Lois Napier
Tibbels of Ranger and six grandchildren, Trevor and Aaron
Madding, Jay, Nathan and Eli Jacoby, & Jonah Jackson and
several great-grandchildren.
