BETTY JO PENN KINSER, 75, passed away Nov. 19, 2009,
with burial was in Evergreen Cemetery at Ranger, TX.
Betty was born July 11,1934, in Ranger. She was the second
of two daughters born to E.F. (Frank) and Ola Odessa Carey
Penn. She was a Christian and member of the First Baptist
Church in Gorman. Betty retired from Birdsong Peanuts in
Gorman in 2004 as a logistics supervisor after 39 years of
dedicated service. After retirement she worked for Garrett
Aerobics, James and Jo-Anne Garrett. She was an accomplished
pianist, liked to travel/vacation and spend time with her
precious family and friends. If you ever had one of her home
cooked meals, it was something that you would never forget.
Betty was a beloved mother and me-maw to her children and
grandchildren. To all that called her a friend, she so
dearly loved that life long relationship. She will always
be remembered, as a special lady that always gave a tremendous
amount of herself and did so without ever expecting anything
in return.She was a trusting child of God and her faith never
wavered during life's afflictions and tribulations. She has
touched and influenced so many people's lives during her life
and done so in a profound everlasting manner.
Betty's parents and husband of 43 years, Rex Kinser, and
little grandson, Jamie, preceded her in death.
Survivors: she is survived by four children, Dana Emfinger
and husband, Bobby, of Eastland, Brenda Weldon of Azle, Dean
Weldon of Azle, Andrew Kinser & wife, Michelle, of Stephenville;
her dear sister, Dorothy Penn Bundick (RHS-1945) of Fort Worth;
grandchildren, Shane Morrow, Carey Stewart, Cori Owen, Misty
Kemppainen, Josh Weldon, Kali Kinser, and Gabrielle Kinser;
11 great-grandchildren; and two step-children, Barbara Baker
of Fort Worth & Margaret Atchley of Stephenville. Additionally,
several nieces and nephews survive her.
HUSBAND: REX GEORGE KINSER, husband of the former
Betty Jo Penn (RHS-1951), was born Sept. 9, 1915 in Marble
Falls, TX. He was the sixth of eight children born to
Andrew and Bessie Kinser all with the name starting with
R. He was called home to his great reward on May 8, 2006
at the age of 90 1/2 years. Burial was at Oakland Cemetery.
Rex was a peanut farmer and along with being a Kinser,
which also meant being a carpenter. He loved raising a
garden and loved to share his crops with friends and
family.
Rex was a loving husband and father. He was an avid fox/
coyote hunter and fiddle player, it was hard for him to
know which music he liked best, fiddling music or the
pretty music the hounds made barking while on the chase.
He also loved baseball with the Texas Rangers being his
beloved team. He enjoyed and loved all his grandchildren
and they loved him as well. He will be dearly missed by
all those who loved and knew him. He was not in the best
of health for the last couple of years of his life, however,
he never forgot how to smile or care. He is now restored,
smiling and walking with his Lord Almighty. Rex was a
Christian and a member of the Midway Baptist Church.
Survivors include, wife Betty of the home; two daughters,
Margaret Atchley of Stephenville and Barbara Baker of Fort
Worth; one son, Andrew Frank Kinser and wife Michelle of
Stephenville; also three stepchildren, Dana and husband
Bobby Emfinger of Eastland, Brenda Moores of Eastland and
Dean Weldon of Weatherford; two brothers, Ralph Kinser of
Buena Park, CA., and Richard Kinser of Gorman; 12 grand-
children and 16 great-grandchildren as well as several
nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents,
three brothers, two sisters and two grandchildren.
HUSBAND: HARRY ALLEN WELDON, 76, passed away on
Feb. 4, 2009 in Abilene, TX, with burial in the Eastland City
Cemetery.
Harry was born Nov. 8, 1932 in Palo Pinto County to Raymond R.
& Virginia (McFadden) Weldon. He was baptized in Graham, TX, when
he was 14 and was a member of the First Baptist Church, Ranger,
TX. He graduated high school in Graham, & attended Ranger JR.
College on a track scholarship. In 1952, he married Betty Jo Penn
(RHS-1951) & they had three children. Also in 1952 Harry got the
chance to see Rev. Billy Graham in person in Houston at the Rice
Stadium with a crowd of several thousand people. Harry loved to
fish and hunt as well as gardening and doing yard work. He spent
several years refereeing for high school football games. He also
enjoyed playing golf and was an avid 42 player. He loved music
and especially making his own when he played his fiddle.
In 1980 he married Darrell Williamson Emfinger. Harry held Plant
Supervisor and Superintendent positions at Sarco/Alamo Athletics
in Ranger, Fort Worth, & San Antonio, TX, Houston Fluids & was a
Merchants Agent. He retired from Merchants and spent lots of time
at Lake Daniels fishing. He was a devoted Mason for over 50 years.
He loved his family and friends dearly and unconditionally. He
spent time praying for them regularly. He loved keeping up with
world events either by newspapers or by television. He loved to
watch Joel Osteen and watched him as much as he could whenever he
could. Family was most important to Harry and he loved spending
time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by Darrell Weldon; three children, Dana Emfinger,
Brenda Weldon and Dean Weldon; two step-children, Bobby G. Emfinger
and Greg Emfinger; one sister, Charlotte Williams; 5 grandchildren,
Shane Morrow, Carey Stewart, Cori Owen , Misty Kemppainen, Josh
Weldon; 2 step-grandchildren, Chance Emfinger and Shama Emfinger
Hernandez; 19 great grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; 3
nephews; 1 niece; and numerous cousins.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother; a sister, Marjorie
Burgess; and two grandchildren.
