Ranger Exes Memorial - RHS Class of 1953

Roland Goforth ROLAND CLYDE "SARGE" GOFORTH, 78, of Robert Lee, TX, died March 19, 2010, with a military honors burial in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens at San Angelo, TX. Sarge was born Sept. 20, 1931, in Stephens County, TX to H.R. "Coon" and Rosie J. (Boney) Goforth. He attended Ranger High School in the Class of 1953 at Ranger, TX. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a paratrooper and was discharged as a Sergeant. Sarge was in the electrical trade in Odessa & moved to San Angelo in 1961. He worked as chief engineer at Shannon Medical Center from 1961 to 1976. After leaving Shannon Hospital, he went back into the Electrical profession and later opened Goforth Electric. Sarge was married to Barbara Ann Roberson (RHS-1955) in Oct. of 1953, in Woodson, TX. She preceded him in death in 1999. Survivors include 4 children, Donny Goforth and wife Danine of Arlington, Debbie Goforth, Dorinda Boswell and husband David and Damon Goforth all of San Angelo; 7 grandchildren, Kristina Knox and husband Robbi, Alia Brewer husband John, Jordan and Hayden Boswell, Destiny Ann Goforth, Marissa and Cody Baker; great-grandson Luke Brewer; and daughters-in-law Phyllis Goforth; 2 brothers David (Dub) Goforth and wife Donna of Robert Lee and Bobby Goforth (RHS-1957) and wife Dorothy of Waco; 2 sisters, Billy Lou Harper (RHS-1955) and husband Tommy (RHS-1954) of Waco and Virgie Leaker and husband Frank of Ennis and numerous nieces and nephews.
