Ranger Exes Memorial - RHS Class of 1960

Rozelle Hatton Joseph Sklenar ROZELLE HATTON SKLENAR, 63, passed away at her home on Oct. 9, 2004 at Marion County Lake in Marion, KS, with burial in Pilsen Cemetery. Rozelle was the daughter of the late Belton & Rosa Hatton. She was born in Ranger, TX on Sept. 16, 1941. She was the grand-daughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. T.J. Adams and Mr. & Mrs. Thomas Hatton. She was raised in the Bullock Community and graduated from Ranger High School in 1960. In June of 1960, she married Joe Sklenar in Ranger. She lived in Abilene and Arlington before moving to Owasso, OK, where she lived until moving to Kansas in 2000. While living in Owasso, she worked as a pharmacy technician and office manager and was active in St. Henry's Parish and the church altar society. After moving to Kansas, she was involved with St. Luke Hospital Auxiliary and was an active member of the St. John Nepoucene Church, Holy Family Parish in Pilsen, KS. She enjoyed all family activities & after Joe's retirement from American Airlines they enjoyed traveling. She is survived by her husband, Joe of Marion, KS; a son and daughter-in-law, J.M. and Regina Sklenar of Bixby, OK; daughter and son-in-law, Thomas & Janice Wiles of Cincinatti, OH; five grandchildren, Adam and Jill Sklenar, Jacob and Jessica Wiles & Sara Roach; five sister, Dorthy Godwin (RHS-1943) of Duncanville, Bernice Gildner (RHS-1946), Peggy Lindsey (RHS-1951) and Jenna Vee Miller (RHS-1954) of Arlington and Linda Young (RHS-1963) of Eastland; four brother-in- laws and two sister-in-laws, Dewey Godwin, Bill Gildner, Roy Lindsey, and Cy Miller; Bonnie Hatton and Mary Helen Rogers. She was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson, Jordan Wiles, two brothers, Winfred Hatton (RHS-1948) and Dalton Hatton (RHS-1942) and a brother-in-law, Johnny Young (RHS-1958). HUSBAND: JOSEPH J. SKLENAR was born Oct. 4, 1935, to Joseph M and Della Sklenar of Pilsen, KS. Joe grew up in the Pilsen and St John Nepomucene Church Community & graduated from Marion High School in 1954. After graduation, Joe enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he proudly served as an airplane mechanic. He was stationed in Fairbanks, AK then Abilene, TX where he met & married Edith Rozelle Hatton (RHS-1960) of Ranger in 1960. Their daughter, Janice, was born at Dyess AFB and their son, Joseph Matthew, was born while they were stationed in Austin, TX at Bergstrom AFB. After an honorable discharge from the Air Force, Joe and Rozelle moved their family to Arlington, TX where Joe was employed by General Motors. In 1967 Joe accepted a job with American Airlines in Tulsa, OK where he was employed for 29 years as a jet engine mechanic before retiring in 1996. Joe & Rozelle lived and raised their family in Owasso, OK and the parish of St Henry’s until 2000. In 2000 Joe built Rozelle her dream home on the Marion County Lake. Joe continued living in Marion, KS after Rozelle passed away in 2004. In 2014 Joe moved to Tulsa to be near family. After a long illness, Joe passed away peacefully on Dec. 11, 2018, at The Gardens of Sapulpa under the care of Rose Rock Hospice. Joe is preceded in death by his wife, Rozelle, his brother, Donald Sklenar, and two grandsons, Jordan Thomas Wiles, and Adam Blake Sklenar. Joe is survived by his brother, Lloyd Sklenar, of Pilsen, his daughter Janice Wiles (Thomas) of Cincinnati, OH & his son, Joseph Matthew Regina) of Bixby, OK. He is also survived by four grand- children: Jessica Fischbach (AJ) and Jacob Wiles (Lexi) both of Cincinnati, OH and Jill Sklenar and Sara Roach of Tulsa, a great-grandson, Landen Beartusk and by Joe’s faithful companion, his cat Dutch. Joe loved to travel, hunt, fish, eat BBQ, listen to Polka music and work with his hands but most of all loved celebrating with family and friends. We would like to thank his caregivers and family and friends who loved and supported him through these last difficult months. Joe was very proud of growing up on a farm in Pilsen and loved the beautiful St John Nepomucene Church. Burial was in the Pilsen Cemetery.
