THOMAS "TOMMY" EARL JOYNER, 63, of Whitney, TX passed
away on Oct. 20, 2007 at his residence. Burial was
in the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
He was born on Dec. 27, 1944 in Dallas to John Lewis
and Willie Adell Freeman Joyner. He graduated from
Ranger High School in 1963 at Ranger, TX & received
a Bachelor of Business Degree from Tarleton State
University.
Tommy served in the United States Army during Vietnam
where he received a Purple Heart. He is listed on the
Vietnam Veteran Memorial in Ranger, TX.
In Jan. of 1970, he married Patricia Bryan (RHS teacher).
He lived in Mineral Wells for many years before retiring
to Whitney. He was preceded in death by a sister,
Dorothy Joyner Ryon (RHS-1956).
Survivors include his wife, Patricia of Whitney; children,
Waymon Joyner and wife, Tisha of Fort Worth, Bryan Joyner
and wife, Julie of Murphy, John Joyner and wife, Sheila
of Murphy; sister, Joyce Joyner Jones (RHS-1961) of Santa
Anna; grandchildren, Sherry Joyner, Emily Joyner, Madison
Joyner, Macie Joyner, Sarah Joyner & Jacob Joyner.
MOTHER: WILLIE FREEMAN JOYNER, 90, of Ranger, TX passed
away on Jan. 4, 2007 at her home. Burial was at Evergreen
Cemetery in Ranger.
Mrs. Joyner was born on May 26, 1916 in Thurber, TX to
Earl Franklin and Julia Viola McCoy Freeman. She grew
up in Thurber and attended school in the Jaybird
Community and in Thurber. Mrs. Joyner married John
Lewis "Ralph" Joyner and he preceded her in death in
1953. She lived most of her life in Ranger and worked
for Adams Grocery for 37 years as a cashier. She was
a member of the Second Baptist Church in Ranger.
Mrs. Joyner was preceded in death by her parents, her
husband, three brothers; two sisters and a daughter,
Dorothy Joyner Ryon (RHS-1956) in 1984. One brother,
Edward Freeman, was in the RHS Class of 1944.
At the time of her death, Mrs. Joyner was survived by:
a daughter, Joyce Jones (RHS-1961) of Santa Anna; a son,
Tommy Joyner (RHS-1963) of Whitney; her care giver,
Janice Young of Ranger; two sisters, Florene Throne
(RHS-1946) of Stephenville, & Betty Jo Ryan (RHS-1950)
of Weatherford; six grandsons and one granddaughter;
fourteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and
nephews.
