BARBARA ANN FORD THACKERSON, 62, passed away
on Jan. 22, 2008, with burial in the Merriman
Cemetery near Ranger, TX.
Barbara was born on Aug. 18, 1945 in San Diego,
CA, to Emery and Ovella Sunday Ford. They
moved to Ranger in 1950 and Barbara stayed and
raised her own family. She was very involved in
the community. She was a Girl Scout leader and
avid lover of water sports especially water skiing.
She was devoted to her family and home. For many
years she did home health and treated her patients
like family. She also loved animals and was known
to take care of many strays. Barbara developed
breast cancer and was a proud survivor for the
past two & a half years.
She is preceded in death by parents & two brothers,
Emery Eugene, Jr. (RHS-1967) & Thomas Briggs Ford
(RHS-1960).
At the time of her death, she was survived by her
children, Rex Thackerson (RHS-1977), Albert,
Christy Thackerson(RHS-1983), and Jeff Thackerson
(RHS-1985) Thackerson; grandchildren, Matt, Lisa
(RHS-2000), Roddy (RHS-2001), Tara, Jami, Meagan,
and Peyton Thackerson, Aaron Hoots, Mariea Freeman
and five great-grandchildren.
MOTHER: OVELLA SUNDAY FORD, 82, of Ranger, TX died
on Sept. 10, 2001 at her daughter's home, with ]
interment at South Park Cemetery in Pearland, TX.
She was born on Jan. 27, 1919 in Montgomery, TX,
to T.Y. & Lorena (Pouncy) Sunday. She was a high
school graduate. She married Emery Eugene Ford in
March of 1938 in Alvin, TX. He preceded her in death
on July 13, 1984. They moved to Ranger and together
owned and operated Ranger Hill Truck Stop for 25 years.
She retired and moved to Lake Leon. She was a member
of the Lighthouse Family Worship Church and a past
member of the First Christian Church for 25 years.
She was a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Her two sons, Tommy Ford (RHS-1960) & Emery Ford Jr.
(RHS-1967), preceded her in death.
Survivors at the time of her death are her daughter,
Barbara Thackerson (RHS-1963) of Ranger; step-mother,
Verna Sunday of Manvel; a sister, Genie Taylor of
Manvel; 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren;
and several nieces and nephews.
