VINETTA "SISSY" ESTELLE BLACKWELL MILLER,
78, passed away Dec. 25, 2023 in Gainesville, TX,
with burial in Fairview Cemetery..
She was born on April 20, 1945 in Ranger, TX to
John Earl Sr. & Bertha Leola (McGlothin) Blackwell.
She graduated from Ranger High School in 1963 where
she was an outstanding twirler. Vinetta married
Richard Harland Miller in June of 1967 in Ranger.
She was a long-time member of Hillcrest Church of
Christ and worked at First State Bank for over 32
years. She dearly loved her family, especially
her grand and great-grandchildren, spending as
much time as she could with them. Having such a
great sense of humor, she was famous for her funny
stories that kept people laughing. She also had
a kind heart for animals, enjoying the time she
spent with her pets.
Vinetta was preceded in death by her husband, parents,
and her brothers John Blackwell Jr. (RHS-1942) and JT
Blackwell (RHS-1944), sisters Luella Blackwell Weaver
(RHS-1945) and Donna Blackwell Bell (RHS-1956).
Mrs. Miller is survived by her daughter Kelli Bond
of Gainesville; son and daughter-in-law Kevin and
Cynthia Miller of Harlingen; grandchildren: Madyson
and Rusty Drye, Landon and Erica Bond, Kailey Miller
and Allison Miller; great-grandchildren Samson Drye
and Maycie Drye; brother and sister-in-law Walter
Blackwell (RHS-1960) & Candy of Carrizo Springs;
sister-in-law & brother-in-law Debi & Ed Zielinski
of Callisburg; sister-in-law Sandy Corbett of Dexter.
HUSBAND: RICHARD HARLAND MILLER, 78, of
Gainesville, TX passed away Aug. 13, 2021 in Ardmore,
OK, with burial in Fairview Cemetery.
Richard was born on April 5, 1943 in Callisburg, TX,
to J.O. and Audrey Miller. He attended school in
Gainesville and graduated from Gainesville High
School in 1961. He married Vinetta Blackwell in
June of 1967 in Ranger, TX. They were married for
54 years. Richard spent most of his working career
as a draftsman/designer. He worked for various
companies including National Supply, Valeo, and
Spindletop.
Richard loved sports, especially baseball. He
enjoyed coaching and had many wonderful memories
with dear friends. He loved the Texas Rangers,
but he was an even bigger fan of his children and
grandchildren. Even though he was a man of few
words, he could brag about his family anytime. He
loved being Dad and Papa, and he always put his
family before himself. Richard was dearly loved
and respected, and he will be greatly missed.
Mr. Miller was preceded in death by: parents and
brother-in-law, Larry Corbett.
Survivors include: wife, Vinetta Miller of Gaines-
ville; daughter, Kelli Bond Parli and husband Ryan
of Gainesville; son, Kevin Miller and wife Cynthia
of Harlingen; grandchildren: Madyson Drye and
husband, Rusty of Bedford, Landon Bond and fiancé,
Erica Martinez of Noble, OK, Kailey Miller of
Harlingen, and Allison Miller of Harlingen; great-
grandchildren: Samson and Maycie Drye; sister,
Sandy Corbett of Dexter; sister, Debi Zielinski
and husband, Ed of Callisburg; and brother-in-law,
Walter Blackwell and wife, Candy of Carrizo Springs.
