TEMPLE
The 1928 Arcadia Theater in Temple closed exactly 50 years after opening. Roy Roger
& Trigger pictured in front in 1943. The theater is being renovated.
TERRELL
The former Iris Theater in downtown Terrell had
603 seats. It is now a book & gift shop. Terrell
had another theater at one time called the Lyric.
TULIA
The 1944 Royal Theater in downtown Tulia appears to be closed
after many years of showing movies.
TYLER
The 1930s Liberty Theater on the square in downtown
Tyler closed in 2008. It is being remodeled for live
concerts & renamed Liberty Hall.
The 1940 Tyler Theater off the square closed and
converted to retail use. Another old theater in Tyler
was the Arcadia.
VERNON
The Plaza Theater opened in 1953 & was the
first theater in Texas to show 3-D movies. It
was renovated in 2004 & now shows the latest
movies.
WACO
The Hippodrome Theater is in downtown Waco.
It was built around 1914 and has been
restored for a center of performing arts,
now known as the Waco Theater.
WAXAHACHIE
The Texas Theater was originally built in 1895
on the square in downtown Waxahachie and now
used for music shows.
WEATHERFORD
The Weatherford Theater on the square in
downtown Weatherford is now closed.
WHITEWRIGHT
The Odeum Theater closed in Jan. of 2013 and is
for sale. It is located in downtown Whitewright
and was remodeled in 2001. The theater is
decorated in an Egyptian styling.
WILLS POINT
The Majestic Theater, named after the movie
palace in downtown Dallas, is located in
downtown Wills Point. It opened in 1926
maybe the oldest continuously operating,
family-owned theater in the U.S. The 315
seat theater closed in 2010.
YOAKUM - The 1922 Grand Theater reopened in 2016 & after being restored.
