REBA CALLAWAY RAWLS, 93, of Ranger, TX passed away
on Sept. 24, 2009 in Weatherford, TX, with burial at
Evergreen Cemetery in Ranger.
Reba C. Rawls was born Sept. 23, 1916 to Rev. B.M. and
Ida E. Callaway in Ratcliff, TX. Rev. Callaway was one
of the first pastors of the Methodist Church in Ranger.
She grew up in Ranger and graduated from Ranger High
School and Ranger Jr. College. She married Jack A. Rawls
(RHS-1932) in 1937 who died in 1978.
She worked as cashier for F.W. Woolworth Co. and as Invoice
Records Clerk for Montgomery Ward. She went to work for the
City of Ranger as water department clerk and later served the
City of Ranger as City Secretary. In 1963 she went to work for
First Federal Savings and Loan (later known as Ranger Savings).
She became Executive Vice President and served as a member of
the Board of Directors. Reba also worked for the Eastland
County Water Supply District as Secretary-Treasurer for the
Board of Directors. She retired her position from the District
in 1999 and moved to Weatherford, TX, to make her home with
her son, Jack A. Rawls, Jr. (RHS-1959) and wife, Jennie (RHS-
1961) in their lovely new home. She was a member of the Order
of the Eastern Star Chapter #275, and past Worthy Matron, member
and past President of Ranger Texas Gamma Beta Master and one
the oldest living member. She was a life long member of the
First United Methodist Church of Ranger.
She is preceded in death by her husband Jack A. Rawls, son
Jack A. Rawls, Jr., her parents, one sister Jewel Gullett
(RHS-1923) and two brothers, W.O. Callaway & Hugh E. Callaway
(RHS-1931), and a daughter-in-law Jennie Rawls.
She is survived by grandson Jack A. Rawls III and wife, Arlene
of Ranger, grandson Thomas L. Rawls & wife, Amay, of Weatherford,
5 great-grandchildren; Michael Rawls and wife, Kelly, Mindy
Gonzales and husband, Jason of Gorman, Alexandria Rawls, McKenna
Rawls and Madeline Camp, 2 great-great-grandchildren; Kileigh
Gonzales, and Katherine Elizabeth "Lizzy" Rawls. A sister-in-law
Mabel Callaway of Douglas Arizona and 2 nieces, Eloise Speer and
husband, Bill of Kermit, TX, and Kathy Frasier and husband,
Larry of Grand Prairie, TX.
