JENNIE LU ELLA WALTON RAWLS, age 67, of Weatherford, TX,
departed to meet our Lord on July 17, 2009. Burial was at
Evergreen Cemetery in Ranger, TX.
Jennie was born August 24, 1941 to Edgar & La Nita Davis Walton
in San Antonio, TX, Jennie was the fourth of six siblings.
Jennie grew up in Ranger, TX, and married her high school
sweetheart, the late Jack Allen Rawls Jr. (RHS-1959) in Jan. of
1961. Jack and Jennie were the model of true and sincere love
through 47 years of marriage until Jack's passing last October.
Jennie began her career as a devoted homemaker in Austin,
followed by almost 5 years in Sugar Land, TX. From there the
couple spent 20 years in Belton. After Jack's retirement from
Texas Instruments, Jack and Jennie retired to Weatherford, TX.
Jennie was dedicated in her faith and contributed in church
activities for many years. Her fresh baked unleavened bread was
served for communion at the Presbyterian Church and she enjoyed
bringing dishes to share at church events. Jennie was also a devout
follower of the Kenneth Copeland Ministries and delighted in the
Believer's Conventions. Jennie knew her bible and could quote
scriptures from memory. She was an exemplary and humble Christian.
Jennie Rawls was a remarkable seamstress, cook, cake decorator,
and gardener. She loved to snow ski, play golf, and go camping. She
was an enthusiastic sports fan, and faithfully cheered on the Dallas
Cowboys, Dallas Stars, and the Texas Longhorns. Whether she had
tickets or watched the games from home, she never missed a game and
had a passion for sports. Jennie Rawls gave her life to her faith
and her family and was an excellent wife and mother. She will always
be remembered for her kind heart, her bold personality, her strength,
and her delightful smile. The world is a better place for having been
blessed with her presence.
Her immediate family includes, mother-in-law, Reba Rawls (RHS-1934);
sons Jack Allen Rawls III and his wife Arlene, Thomas Lee Rawls and
his wife Amay; brothers, Hal Walton and his wife Mary, Tom Walton
and his wife Shirley; sisters, Martha Ervin and her husband Tom,
Peggy King and her husband Lee; grandchildren, Michael Rawls and
his wife Kelly, Mindy Gonzales and her husband Jason, Alexandria
Rawls, McKenna Rawls and Madeline Camp; great-grandchildren Kiley
Gonzales, and her beloved poodle, Crystal Star.
