IMA MAE PRUETT JOHNSTON, 90, passed away
Oct. 19, 2008, with burial at Merriman Cemetery
near Ranger, TX.
Ima was born July 31, 1918 in Ranger to Elzie &
Alice (Crawford) Pruett. She attended Ranger High
School in the Class of 1937 and married Bill W.
Johnston in Jan. of 1935. He preceded her in death
in 1980. Ima Mae is also preceded in death by two
children, Corky Johnston & Lynette Johnston Stowe
(RHS-1979), a brother, Kenneth Pruett (RHS-1939),
& three sisters, Dee Key, Dot Willingham, & Billie
Tudor.
She is survived by her children, Joann Johnston
Kinder (RHS-1959), Billy Ray Johnston, Gladys
Johnston Walker (RHS-1961), Jerry Johnston (RHS-
1965), Jimmy Johnston, Roger Johnston, & Mary Alice
Johnston Choate (RHS-1967); a brother, Elzie Pruett,
Jr. (RHS-1947); 25 grandchildren, an abundance of
great-grandchildren and several great-great-grand-
children.
SON: ROGER DALE JOHNSTON, 63, passed away
Oct. 26, 2017 in Cisco, TX, with burial in the
Merriam Cemetery near Ranger, TX.
Roger was born Aug. 3, 1954 in Ranger, TX to Bill
Johnston & Ima Mae Pruitt Johnston. He attended
Abilene State School for many years before attending
Life Resources in Eastland.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers;
& 1 sister. Survivors include 3 sisters, Jo Ann Kinder,
Gladys Walker, and Mary Choate; and many nieces and
nephews.
SISTER: DOLLIE PRUETT WILLINGHAM, 76, of
Stanford, TX and formerly of Ranger, TX, died on
April 29, 2001 with burial at Merriman Cemetery
near Ranger.
She was born Jan. 16, 1925, to Elzie and Alice
Pruett in Ranger. She married Bernise Willingham
in 1942 at Ranger. He preceded her in death in 1988.
She was a Baptist and a homemaker. She may have
attended Ranger High School but found no record.
Survivors at the time of her death include a daughter,
Judy Gilbreath of Avoca, a brother, Elzie Pruett,
Jr. (RHS-1947) of Ranger; & a sister Ima Mae Pruett
Johnson (RHS-1937) of Ranger.
