ERNEST "TEX" ARTERBURN, 85, son of Ernest
Forrest "Art" Arterburn and Margaret Leoma "Oma"
Ellison Arterburn, and a resident of Albuquerque,
NM died on Dec. 3, 2006, with burial at Santa Fe
National Cemetery.
He attended Ranger High School in the Class of 1940
at Ranger, TX. Tex worked as a machinist on the
Manhattan Project in Los Alamos while serving with
the U. S. Army. He retired after 37 years service
as Division Supervisor of Machinists at Sandia National
Labs. Tex enjoyed spending free time at his cabin
in the Jemez mountains, hunting, fishing, woodworking,
gardening, and RVing. He was a member of Hoffmantown
Church and was a Mason for over 50 years.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Evelyn Arterburn;
son, Michael Arterburn; stepdaughter, Marca DeLaPorte;
granddaughters, Kim Haight, Dawn Leath and husband,
Blake, and Amy Boles; grandson, Jason DeLaPorte; great-
granddaughters, Taylor and Terralyn Haight, Lauren
Leath & Kylar DeLaPorte; brothers, Junior R. Arterburn
(RHS-1946) and wife, Joyce, D.C. Arterburn (RHS-1940)
and wife, Dot (Lewis) (RHS-1946), and L.P. Arterburn
(RHS-1945) and wife, Frances; and daughter-in-law, Pam
DeLaPorte-Kirby; brother-in-law, W.C. and Louise
Timbrook and daughter, Jovanna. He was preceded in
death by his brother, W.J. Arterburn (RHS-1942) and
stepson, Terry DeLaPorte.
