LANITA RUTH CREAGER WILLIAMSON, 85, former
Roswell, NM resident, passed away in April of 2018
peacefully at her home in Dallas, TX surrounded by
her three daughters. She was laid to rest next to
her beloved parents in Simpson Cemetery near her
hometown in Texas.
Nita, as she was known, was born in Ranger, TX on
March 1, 1933, to her parents Willis Ferrol Creager &
Othel Clearman Creager both who preceded her in death,
as well as, her dear sister, Melba Creager Dave (RHS-
1948). She attended Ranger High School in the Class
of 1950 & graduated from North Texas State University
in Denton, TX with a degree in Elementary Education.
She taught first grade for a short while in Midland,
TX and Georgetown, Virginia. Afterwards the family
lived in Midland before moving to Roswell in 1965.
She was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church
of Roswell serving her church in many different capacities.
She managed her own Oil & Gas business and was a member
of the American Association of Professional Landmen.
She raised her children in Roswell and developed many
close, lifelong friendships before moving to Dallas in
1990. In Dallas, she joined Park Cities Baptist Church
and enjoyed making friends in her Pathfinders Class.
Her great joy in life was the birth and caring for
each of her five grandchildren. Most of all, we are
forever grateful for her love, care & fierce protection.
She is survived by three daughters, Amy W. Wilcox and
husband A.D. of Houston, TX, Alice Anderson and husband
Hugh of Dallas and Carol Green and husband Raleigh of
Dallas, brother, Bill Creager (RHS-1958) of Chestertown,
MD, one niece Marsha Daves Otterstedt of Columbus, OH,
one nephew, Will Creager of Chestertown. Also five
grandchildren Daniel Duncan and wife Melissa of Roswell,
Brooke Bounds and husband Conley of Atlanta, GA, Clark
Bonner of Phoenix, AZ, Sydney & Sofia Schnurrenberger
of Dallas. One great-granddaughter, Addison Duncan of
Roswell.
