Ranger Exes Memorial - RHS Class of 1971

Roger Rutledge Margie Richards ROGER ALLEN RUTLEDGE, 26, was killed in a plane crash near Ranger, TX on Sept. 27, 1979, with interment at Evergreen Cemetery in Ranger. He was born Nov. 4, 1952, in San Francisco, CA and graduated in 1971 from Ranger High School, where he played football. He married Sandra K. Eaton (RHS-1972) in August of 1973, in Ranger. Mr. Rutledge was past president of the Ranger Junior Rodeo Association. He was owner of Rutledge Welding and Oil Field Equipment in Ranger and a member of the Baptist Church. His mother was Mrs. Margie Richards of Euless. He had four brothers, Tom Fox (RHS-1970), Buzzy Rutledge (RHS- 1970), Billy (RHS-1972) and Darrell Rutledge, all of Ranger; 4 sisters, Mrs. John Barnett, Rossie Richards, Jeanie Richards and Sue Richards. MOTHER: MARGIE BELLE RUTLEDGE FOX RICHARDS, 84, passed away on Aug. 22, 2017 at her home in Ranger, TX, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Margie was born to Clyde A. Mattes & Lela Belle Juby Mattes in San Francisco, CA on April 1, 1933. She was the oldest girl in a family of 5 girls and 2 boys. Her two brothers preceded her in death. Her four sister are still living. Margie worked all her life in retail sales and was the owner for a time of the old Ranger Hill Truck Stop and the old Exxon Service Station (now Ranger Donuts). Ms. Richards was preceded in death by husbands Thomas M. Fox Jr. in 1975 and Joe F. Richards in 1991. She was also preceded in death by son Roger Rutledge (RHS- 1971) in 1979, step-son Thomas M. Fox III (RHS-1970) in 2010, and daughter Reta Rutledge Stowe (RHS-1969) in 2015. Survivors include son, Darrell Fox and wife Trish; son, John “Buzzy” Rutledge and wife Barbara, and step-son, Billy Fox and wife Pam all of Ranger. Grandchildren include Roger Rutledge (Tracy) of Eastland; Jeff (Wendy), John (Shandy), and Ronny Rutledge of Ranger; Matt Fox (Chelsea) of Ranger; granddaughters, Kristen Fox of Ranger, Amanda Clark of Acton and Annette Doyle of Kearney, MO. She is also survived by a number of great-grandchildren.
